Source: VanguardAS part of activities marking his first one year in office, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has allotted  150 out of 236 units of two-bedroom apartments at the Grace Estate to the civil servants in the state. Eno who announced this weekend while commissioning the 236 two-bedroom  Deluxe housing estates located in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono local government areas, explained that the beneficiaries would emerge through a raffle draw to ensure transparency and fairness.He also explained that the gesture was in line with his administration’s resolve to improve the living standard of Akwa Ibom workers by providing affordable shelter for them through low and medium housing schemes.  These were contained in a statement by the Government House Press Corps, which was made available to newsmen on Sunday in Uyo.   His words, “Today, we are commissioning 236 units of two bedroom deluxe apartments. 150 of these units will be given to Civil Servants from grade levels 01 to 08. The Head of Civil Service must ensure that only people from levels 01 to 08 express intention and cannot do that expression more than once.

Source: VONThe Akwa Ibom State government announced plans to collaborate with Bertola Machine Tools Limited to enhance food production in the region, aligning with the State Government’s commitment to achieving the agricultural revolution goals outlined in its ARISE Agenda. Governor Umo Eno disclosed this during a weekend visit to the company’s premises in Ifa Atai, Airport Road, Uyo. He toured the facility and inspected purpose-built machines and tools designed for agricultural activities. The governor confirmed plans to establish equipment leasing services to give farmers access to essential machinery, thereby enhancing food sufficiency. Partnering with Bertola Machine Tools Limited will be crucial in achieving this goal.

Source: The Dune NewspaperTeachers from select public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State have been trained on the use of Virtual Reality Immersive Learning and EduTap, Information unit in the Ministry has reported. The one-day training was organised by the Ministry of Education in partnership with Inforport Technology Limited, an information technology services outfit based in Lagos, held at Community secondary school, Aka Offot, Uyo.The teachers were trained on the use of Virtual Reality Immersive Learning (VRILE) and EduTap Devices, which are innovative technology solutions which operate on electronic-based interfacing devices designed to ease the activities of imparting knowledge in schools using modern, digitised educational devices for easy retention of lessons by students.

Source: Vanguard AKWA Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has formally flagged off the construction of a Model Government Primary School, in the Idung Offiong community, Eket Local Government in fulfilment of his administration’s one project per local government area initiative.He also reiterated that the first set of projects would be completed within six months in all 31 local government areas, after which another set of 31 projects would be chosen.  His words, “This is the first of the projects that will be delivered in all 31 local Governments of this State. As part of our rural development drive, we have allowed communities and Local Governments to do a NEEDS assessment, align it with what we have and deliver it to the people.  “So this project was chosen by Eket Local Government stakeholders. They want a School built here. We are here today to use this as our point of contact to flag off all the projects under the initiative in the Eket Senatorial district. When we leave here, we will go to Uyo Senatorial district and later to Ikot Ekpene.  “We will do 31 projects across the State, and those projects I believe should be completed in six months and then we will take another 31 projects. So if you have a School this time, you may have a hospital next time. And if you have a hospital now, you may have markets later."

Source: Daily PostOyo State Government has evacuated no fewer than forty-eight destitute and homeless children in Ibadan, the state capital.  The action, according to the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Saani, was done as part of activities in commemoration of the World Mental Health Day.  Saani, while speaking, maintained that the evacuation was necessary to make a better living for the concerned individuals as the destitute and those with mental health issues would be taken to rehabilitation centers while children used to beg would be taken back to school.  “The raid was meant to clear the streets of street children, beggars, mentally-derailed persons who have become an eyesore to the State and to give them necessary attention at the rehabilitation centers while the children will be registered in schools.

Source: News 24The Oyo State government has enrolled 45,000 poor and vulnerable people under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in the State. The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun revealed, during the flag-off of the scheme, at the Aafin Primary Health Care center Oyo, that the vision of the state government is to achieve Universal Health Coverage for all residents of Oyo State, where no one is left behind in accessing healthcare  Speaking further, Dr. Akande, stated that the Federal Government through the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has made available a total amount of N450,000,000.00 in the first tranche and N264,000,000 in the second tranche for enrollment of 37,500 lives.  Akande however, announced that through the innovation of the Agency, the same amount of money will be used to enroll 45,000 residents of the State into the scheme. He also assured successful enrollees that they can access care without paying out-of-pocket through the ID card issued to them by the Agency.  The Basic Health Care Provision Fund’s primary objective is to help achieve Universal Health Coverage and enhance access to primary health care services for Oyo state citizens especially the poor and the vulnerables, women, children under 5, and children in orphanages.  As Oyo State flags-off access to care, under BHCPF, the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency has empaneled 22,018 lives into 127 PHC’s across 33 LGA’s and has paid capitation into all of these facilities for effective health care service delivery to enrollees.

Source: HealthwiseThe Oyo State Government, in partnership with SOS Children’s Village, a Non-Government Organisation, inaugurated a 30-man committee that will provide alternative care for vulnerable children.  The committee is made up of officials of the Oyo State ministries of Women Affairs and Education, local government representatives, associations of orphans and vulnerable children, the Nigerian Police Force, paramilitary agencies, and religious bodies.  The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social InclusionMrs. Grace Oderinde, while inaugurating the committee in Ibadan on Tuesday, urged members to live up to expectations.  She listed challenges facing vulnerable persons to include inadequate nutrition, overcrowding and the lack of social amenities, and described them as enormous.  The permanent secretary said the state has about 100 vulnerable persons’ homes, alongside a number of illegal ones, and encouraged Nigerians to embrace adoption to decongest such homes.
