We Will Complete The Construction Of The Ilora Agribusiness Industrial Hub Within Four Years Of Being Re-elected.

Not Started - Ilora Hub: A Four-Year Promise Hanging in the Balance

The Oyo State Government's commitment to complete the construction of the Ilora Agribusiness Industrial Hub within four years of Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election is a crucial component of its zonal development blueprint. However, as the administration focuses its energy and resources on other hubs, the status of the Ilora project raises serious concerns about the government's ability to keep its promises across all zones.

The administration has made impressive strides in its agricultural vision. The Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub is a noted success, and the groundbreaking for the Ijaiye Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) in August 2025 demonstrates a strong partnership with the African Development Bank and the Federal Government. These projects prove the model is viable and impactful.

Yet, this success story falters when it comes to Ilora. The four-year deadline runs until May 2027, and with no proof of commencement, the project risks becoming a casualty of delayed execution. The Governor himself, during the Ijaiye groundbreaking ceremony on August 2, 2025, assured the public that for the remaining settlements, including Ilora, the government would "design them and hand them over to the next administration." This shift from a promise of completion to a promise of a blueprint suggests an internal modification of the original mandate.

This ambiguity is unacceptable. For the farmers of Ilora, the Hub is not just a line item in a budget; it represents jobs, reduced post-harvest losses, and a chance to transition from subsistence farming to commercial wealth. The government must prioritize an immediate update. Is the original promise of completion still on the table, or has the new plan for a design handover effectively broken the four-year promise? Accountability requires clear communication. The people of Oyo State deserve an honest assessment of what can be realistically delivered to the Ilora community before the 2027 handover.
