We Will Provide Capacity Development For 50 Agricultural Extension Officers And Agribusiness Advisory Officers In Each Of The 33 Local Government Areas Through Digital Extension Services Within Two Years Of Being Re-elected.

Governor Makinde's Promise to Train Extension Officers Through Digital Services Partially Fulfilled

The promise by Governor Seyi Makinde to provide capacity development for 1,650 Agricultural Extension Officers (50 per LGA) through digital extension services within two years of re-election has FAILED to meet its specific, quantifiable target. The deadline for this promise has passed, and the government's total training count—even combining multiple, smaller programs—falls significantly short of the 1,650 benchmark.

Instead of fulfilling the large-scale digital training promise, the administration shifted focus to infrastructure and smaller, targeted training. While the Digital Extension Services Training in September 2024 reached 150 agents, and other programs (L-PRES, Tractorisation) reached around 250-400 officers, the specific commitment to equip 1,650 officers with digital skills across all LGAs remains unfulfilled. The official report prioritizing the distribution of 15 motorcycles highlights the divergence from the original digital training plan.

Despite the clear failure to meet the specific promise, the administration has made positive related achievements. These include the recruitment of 56 new agricultural extension officers, the distribution of initial motorcycles to enhance mobility, and general capacity-building across various topics, reaching approximately one-third of the promised target. However, these successes in infrastructure and general training cannot obscure the fact that the explicit, ambitious promise to digitally empower 1,650 officers within the specified timeline was not delivered.
