In Our First Year, We Will Actualise The Passage Of New And Existing Bills On Mining In Oyo State That Will Impact Investment In Solid Minerals In The State

Governor Seyi Makinde promised to pass new and existing mining bills in Oyo State within the first year of his second term (by May 2024) to attract solid minerals investment. This would formalize mining regulations, curb illegal operations, generate state revenue from licensing, create jobs in the sector, and position Oyo as a mining investment hub.

However, no new mining bills or legislative updates were passed by May 2024 as promised; the administration relied on Executive Order 001/2023 for mining regulation enforcement rather than legislative action through the Oyo State House of Assembly.
