We Will Build The Oyo State Electronic Health Records System (EHRS) And Transfer At Least 25% Of Patients Within The Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme To This Database Within Three Years Of Being Re-elected.

Our Assessment

The promise to build the Oyo State EHRS and migrate 25% of health insurance patients is a highly ambitious and commendable goal that remains in the earliest stages of preparation. While the promise is not yet behind schedule, the administration must  move with urgency from the phase of gathering inputs to the phase of active system creation and implementation if it is to meet its three-year target. The success of this initiative will be a true test of the state's commitment to a digital and data-driven future for healthcare.

Oyo receives 22,200 data tools

In a move to modernize its healthcare system and improve data-driven decision-making, the Makinde administration made a forward-looking promise for its second term- to build the Oyo State Electronic Health Records System (EHRS) and transfer at least 25% of patients within the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme to this database within three years of being re-elected. This initiative aimed to digitize patient information, streamline hospital operations, and create a more efficient and integrated healthcare environment.

As this is a three-year promise, a final assessment is not yet due. However, current developments indicate the project is in its very early, foundational phase. The recent receipt of 22,200 data tools is a relevant step, but it does not on its own constitute significant progress toward the core promise.
