We Will Maintain The 15-20% Allocation To The Education Sector In Each Budget From 2023-2027

Our Assessment

Governor Seyi Makinde has successfully fulfilled this promise for the first three years of his second term (2023–2025) and has maintained it in the 2026 proposal. By consistently dedicating between 17% and 21.4% of the state’s annual expenditure to education, the administration has not only met its own 15–20% campaign target but has also frequently exceeded the UNESCO recommended benchmark of 15% for developing nations.

Although the percentage allocation dropped slightly in the 2026 proposal compared to previous years, it remains safely within the promised bracket, demonstrating a sustained legislative commitment to funding the sector.
