We Will Upgrade Six Secondary Healthcare Facilities In Oyo State: Ring Road State Hospital, Adeoyo; General Hospital Eruwa; General Hospital Igbeti; General Hospital Igbo-Ora; General Hospital Iseyin; And General Hospital Oyo

Our Assessment

The promise is currently "ongoing" with high prospects for completion following the €55 million funding secured in 2026. While Ring Road (Adeoyo) and Aremo have seen significant physical completion, the other five general hospitals (Eruwa, Igbeti, Igbo-Ora, Iseyin, and Oyo) were largely stalled until the recent credit facility was obtained. The project is now moving from the planning and budgeting phase into active execution across all five zones, making it likely to be completed before the end of the tenure.

Makinde Obtains €55m French loan facility to upgrade secondary healthcare across Oyo

Governor Makinde has secured a €55 million loan from the French government specifically to upgrade secondary healthcare facilities across the five zones of Oyo State. For Adeoyo Ring Road (2024-2025), significant work has already been completed here, including the installation of a 64-slice CT scanner and a new Renal Dialysis Centre.

Upon launching the operational guidelines for new health workers in early 2026, the Governor confirmed that the upgrade of one secondary facility in each of the five zones (Eruwa, Igbeti, Igbo-Ora, Iseyin, and Oyo) would finally commence using the new French credit facility. General Hospital Aremo was successfully upgraded earlier in the term using insurance capitation funds, serving as a template for the others.
