We Will Ensure That All Trainings Organised By The Oyo State Government Through Any MDA Has 30% Women Inclusion

Our Assessment

The administration is actively implementing this promise but largely through specific, high-impact programs rather than a single, verifiable statewide compliance mechanism. In sectors like agriculture and social inclusion, the government has frequently exceeded the 30% target (reaching up to 80% in the WATEA project). However, data for "all trainings" across "all MDAs" (including less gender-focused ministries like Works or Finance) is not centrally aggregated to confirm the 30% floor is being met everywhere. The promise is effectively "ongoing" as the principle is being applied to major empowerment schemes, but full systematic compliance across every government arm remains a work in progress.

Update on Seyi Makinde's Promised 30% women inclusion in MDA trainings in Oyo State

While a blanket "30% mandate" policy document for every single MDA training has not been publicly gazetted, specific ministries have met or exceeded this target in their individual programs.

In the WATEA Project (Women in Agricultural Technical Education and Apprenticeship), a partnership between the French Government, IITA, and the Oyo State Government, the administration set a target where 80% of the 3,000 beneficiaries must be women, significantly surpassing the 30% promise.

In various agribusiness and SME trainings conducted in late 2023 and 2024 (such as the tomato production and small ruminant workshops), women were explicitly targeted as primary beneficiaries alongside youths.
